Casa da India

It may say India but it's very much Portuguese

Contrary to it’s name, Casa da India specialises in traditional Portuguese food and in particular Chicken Piri Piri. The Portuguese piri piri sauce dates back to the 15th century when Portuguese settlers arrived in the African regions of Mozambique and Angola. The piri piri sauce bursts with flavour and comprises of piri piri chili’s, lemon, garlic, bay leaves and oil, it’s the perfect recipe to serve up with a cold beer.

You’ll see small restaurants or taverna’s grilling spatchchock chicken in their windows and these establishments are normally packed to the rafters with locals enjoying one of Portugal’s favourite dishes.

Casa da India is located in Chiado and prepares some of the best Piri Piri Chicken in Lisbon, it’s no wonder that you’ll see queues outside in the evening and full tables at lunchtime. There is also a host of other dishes to choose from at Casa da India, including pork dishes, fresh fish, octopus and shell fish so make sure to drop in, grab a table or perhaps a high stool at the bar and soak up the local atmosphere at local prices.
