Pink Street

Come on Lisbon let’s go party!

Pink Street, earned its nickname due to its distinctive pink-colored pavement. It’s located it the district of Cais do Sodré which has had a face lift in recent years and it’s as interesting by day as it is by night.

Known for its nightlife, the neighborhood was the historical hangout for international sailors of a bygone era, spies during WWII, artists, writers and ladies of the night. So to say the least, it has always been a lively place to party, and when the sun sets this remains the same today.

There are plenty of clubs and bars along Pink Street and make sure to take the stairs up to a bar called Pensão Amor. Previously a brothel, Pensão Amor, is now a bar which describes itself as “Unique, cheeky and very daring!”. The building also has various rooms which depict the cultural history of the establishment and often there are burlesque performances, themed parties, poetry meetings, theater and lots of live music.

Back on Pink Street you’ll find a magnificent shop which specialises in tinned fish and of course it includes the famous portuguese sardines. Other places of interest close by include, the local fresh vegetable and fish markets, plus the famous TimeOut food hall.

So make sure to pay a visit to Pink Street when visiting Lisbon and if you are looking to party into the night, you’ll most likely find yourself here.
